About Me

James Andrew Conan Dill is an American realist painter from Parsons School of Design. He is inspired by American landscapes and his journeys abroad. His collection of photography often inspires his work. After college, James worked for an art consultant who curated artwork in hospitals. His time selecting artwork for exam rooms and medical waiting areas had an influence on his work. Now, James intentionally paints his subject matter with calming colors and tranquil schemes. They often capture snapshots of nature at memorable moments in time. Outside of painting, James makes glass mosaics and found object sculptures. He currently works at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
